How to Make a Pom-Pom Pillow

Confession: I love pillows! Not just like a little bit, like a whole, whole lot!

Recently my hubby and I were out shopping at one of my favorite boutiques, when I saw the cutest pom-pom pillow! I knew I HAD to have it…until I saw the $58 price tag on it. I looked at my husband in disbelief, “58 dollars?! I mean that’s just ridiculous!” I picked the pillow up to inspect it, flipping it over in my hands, “I could make this myself!” He laughed (probably because he’s heard me say that about 1.2 billion times when things are priced higher than I want them to be), but then his face got semi-serious, “you should do it babe – you should just make one!” He teases me a lot (don’t worry, I tease him a lot too), but he also believes in me way more than I believe in myself.

So I took his words to heart, and did just what he said. I came home and made my own adorable pom-pom pillow! And you know what? I truly love it even more than the $58 pillow that was calling my name! PLUS I made it to go in my girls’ room, and they are completely obsessed with it – I actually might have to make more!

Supplies:

  • yarn – click here to get the exact yarn I used. I also found 2 options from Amazon – click here and here to check them out! You can also just search for any medium (size 4) weight yarn.
  • scissors – I really like using fabric scissors, because they easily cut through multiple pieces of yarn at one time which makes this project so much easier! Trust me! You can get the exact scissors I use here from Michaels, or here from Amazon
  • chair/stool (to make the pom-poms) – just find a chair or stool around your house that you can tie the yarn around.
  • muslin fabric – you can get some from Amazon here
  • poly-fil – you can get some from Michaels here, or from Amazon here
  • hot glue gun- you can get one from Michaels here, or one from Amazon here
  • hot glue sticks – you can get some from Michaels here, or from Amazon here
