How to Make Custom Keychains

As many of you know, I’ve been growing an Etsy shop on the side as a fun pet project. My Etsy shop has been a great way for me to create and share some of my creations with others, and I’m kind of obsessed with keeping track of how many states in the U.S. I’ve shipped orders to (I have a peg board map and everything ). By the way, if you live in Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, or New Mexico, get your orders in – y’all have been holding out on me! 😂 Heck, if you’re in one of those states, use code PINMYSTATE for an extra 10% OFF your order (but you have to live in one of those states, no cheating now! lol) so that I can finally put a pin in your state!

When I opened my Etsy shop I started out only selling stickers, that I make myself (you can click here for the sticker tutorial). A few months later I added some motel keychains, that I also make myself (you can click here for the motel keychain tutorial). These items have done well, and I’m starting to get a clear understanding of which stickers and keychains are my best sellers and will be the most profitable for me in the future.

However as the orders have started to increase, especially in the last 2 months, I’ve realized that having ALL handmade items has put me at a slight disadvantage. I simply do not have time to keep up with the orders, and there’s no way I can keep up as the orders (hopefully) continue to increase in the future. As I was looking for outsourcing options I came across Sticker Mule. They make custom stickers, magnets, tape, keychains, etc. I recently ordered some custom keychains from Sticker Mule, and I’m so happy with how they turned out that I just have to share them with you!

Check out some of my custom keychains from Sticker Mule below!

Isn’t there just something so cool about seeing your own designs made into actual physical products?! I oohed and awed when I opened the box and saw my custom keychains for the first time! The best part is that the product cost is not any higher than my handmade motel keychains, but I save so much time (NOT having to make them by hand) – which time is money, right?! Cha-ching!

I look forward to seeing your Sticker Mule custom keychains in the future!

As always, if you have any questions for me comment here or feel free to reach out to me on Instagram at either @shescraftyandsheknowsit or @shopxoxosarah.

The first step in designing your custom keychains is creating the actual design. I love creating my designs with either the Procreate app or Canva. Procreate is a free app that I use on my iPad with my Apple pencil, and Canva is an app I use on my MacBook and it’s extremely user-friendly. You can sign up for a free Canva account, or a Pro Canva account. I have a Pro Canva account since I also use it to make my YouTube cover photos, and I like having access to all of their goodies!

Once I have my designs created on Procreate or Canva, I head over to Sticker Mule to create my custom acrylic keychains. You simply upload your artwork, choose what size you want your keychains to be (and how many you want to order), and then submit your order and wait for your proof to be ready – which you can either approve or reject with new instructions. I have been so pleased with the custom keychains that I’ve ordered from Sticker Mule!

There’s just something so cool about seeing your designs come to life, right?!
