Looking for an easy way to give plain mini pumpkins a fun and colorful makeover? 🎃 Grab some nail polish and a bucket of water because this simple marbling technique creates the prettiest swirly designs!
I love how every pumpkin turns out completely unique, and you can use whatever nail polish colors you have on hand to create your own look. It’s such a fun fall craft, and an easy way to turn inexpensive mini pumpkins into cute little pieces of decor!
Supplies:
- nail polish – I only used Sally Hansen nail polishes (mainly the insta-dri line but a couple of the xtreme wear ones too) and they worked perfect for this craft. I have not tested other brands.
- mini pumpkins – I got mine at Trader Joe’s. I used real pumpkins, not fake.
- large bowl – I used a 6 qt plastic bowl
- plastic bag (to line to bowl) – this is optional. If you have a large bowl that you use for crafts you can skip the lining, as long as you don’t mind the bowl getting nail polish on the inside of it.
- gloves – I highly recommend using grippy plastic gloves (like the kind used for washing dishes, etc) rather than latex gloves (like nurses and doctors wear). The latex gloves get very slippery and it’s super easy to drop the pumpkins and make a big messy splash of colored nail polish water that gets on your walls, and chairs, and floor…ask me how I know. 🤣
- toothpicks – to swirl the nail polish, and to remove the dried nail polish from the water when you’re done.
