Homeschool Resources for Elementary School

Hey friend, I’m so glad you’re here! After struggling with the “at home learning” through our local public school, we decided to pull our girls out of public school for the 2020-2021 school year. We were spending SO much time on tech issues, helping our girls type, and maneuvering between apps (they were in Kinder and 1st grade when quarantine started) that we felt the girls weren’t spending enough time learning. We have been so happy with homeschooling, and we have found some really amazing resources and tools that I want to share with all of you!

We have been using The Good & The Beautiful curriculum for math, language arts, and handwriting, but have also found so many other great tools and resources that I want to share below!

Math

My favorite tool by far is this wood hundred frame. I bought the maple finish. You can choose for it to come with wood balls or wool balls, and I ended up getting mine with wood balls, and then still bought the wool balls too!

Scroll through the pics below to see the countless ways to use this wood hundred frame. We use it for addition, subtraction, counting, skip counting, multiplication, counting money, etc.

I’ll link the coins and other items below the pics!

You can get the Numbers 1-20 Flash Cards and Clip Bundle here.

Telling Time

This clock has been a life saver when it comes to teaching my girls to tell time. The visual representation of seeing both the hours AND the minutes on the clock has been huge for helping my girls learn to tell time. You can grab this clock here.

Science

My favorite source for science digital downloads is Steph Hathaway Designs. Her products are gorgeous, educational, and most of her products are cheap digital/printable downloads. I’ll share some of her downloads that we have used, with links below each photo!

You can find this apple study here.

You can grab the moon study here. This picture only shows one tiny part of this study. This study has SO many goodies in it!

You can find this pumpkin study here. And just like the other studies, it’s full of way more than shown in the picture above.

Steph Hathaway Designs has so many great studies – I highly encourage you to check out her stuff. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s so reasonably priced too!

We also love exploring nature and this nature journal has been so fun for my girls to use!

These books are so fun, and Julia Rothman’s art is so gorgeous! We use these books for fun science activities. You can get this bundle (which includes all 3 of these books) here.

Julia Rothman also has a Nature Anatomy book (shown in the pic below) that we love. You can get it here (it is not part of the set linked above, you must buy separate).

These are our other favorite books we use to supplement science. These books are big, with beautiful illustrations – your kids will LOVE them! I’ll link them below – we have all 5 of them.

Educational DVDs:

We love the Leap Frog DVDs and if you have preschoolers, or a kid in kindergarten, these are for you! I’ll link them all below.

Learning Games & Puzzles:

We have all of the puzzles and games below, and I highly recommend all of them!

My 4 year old loves these puzzles! You can grab the 2 pack here for under $10!

My 4 and 6 year olds both love this set. You can grab it here for under $8.

This set is great for kids ages 4 & 5. You can grab it here for under $8.

This is a great memory game for kids ages 3 and up, for only $5.99. You can get it here.
