Okay so this is less of a craft, and more of a DIY baking hack, because who doesn’t love multicolored frosting on their cupcakes? The answer – nobody in the history of the world.
The good news is, it’s super easy to do. Watch our quick DIY YouTube video below:

Supplies:
- multiple colors of frosting (I recommend using at least 3 different colors)
- disposable decorating bags like these
- a decorating tip – for the swirl look I used a 1M open star tip like this one
- clear plastic wrap (Saran Wrap)
- cooked cupcakes that have already fully cooled off
Directions:
- lay a piece of plastic wrap on your table/counter
- put rows of different colored icing on the plastic wrap
- roll the plastic wrap together so that the icing rows on the ends come together
- if you didn’t use a big enough piece of plastic wrap (like I did), don’t worry – just lay down a longer piece of plastic wrap and wrap it around the icing you’ve already wrapped
- hold each end of the plastic wrap in your hands and twirl it around to get the icing to set together
- go ahead and cut the tip off of your decorating bag and insert your decorating tip into the bag
- cut the end off of the plastic wrapped icing
- insert the plastic wrapped icing into the decorating bag
- pipe to your heart’s content – for the swirl look I simply piped concentric circles, starting on the outside of the cupcake and moving towards the inside
